Helping Hands

Dear Family and Friends,

We switched libraries that we were going to, and this one even though it is closer to our house it only allows us to be on the computer for a short amount of time. But I do my best to get it all done so that is good! :D

This week was good, things are going good with D. He still has a ways to go but he is making the effort to learn. He didn't come to church though so that was a bummer.

We didn't really teach a lot of investigator lessons because most of our appointments cancelled on us. But it was cool because when they would, it was like God just took over and guided us to someone who needed us at that moment. We had a lot of those things happen this week.

We also helped out with a Mormon Helping Hands project and that was fun! We helped clean up a park that had gone down hill. We moved a lot of dirt! haha We worked from 8:00 in the morning to about noon, so it was a good service project!

We only had one investigator at church and that was Cesar, he is doing really well. His mom doesn't want him getting baptized until he is done with his chemo. But he only has 3 more treatments left so it should be soon.

I don't know just yet on what we are going to do for Mother's Day, but I think we are going over to the same place we went last time, so I'll let you know what we figure out.

I Love you all! Have a good week!

Dear Family and Friends,

I finally was able to pick up your package from the Post Office and I just have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed all of the chocolate!! :P haha

So this week has been a crazy one. First off both Jr. and C. are doing well, but we have pushed back their baptismal dates because we haven't been able to meet with them as much as we need to, so we are figuring that out.

We had a really hard blow for us when we had to drop one of our investigators. :( His name is T. and I think I talked about him a little last week. Well we went over to his house and he was acting very... different. It seems that he had just taken some drugs that day. The situation got a little stressful trying to deal with his hysterical mother and T. himself when he was in that state. In the end we had to leave for our safety. It broke my heart to see that.

We come to really love those that we teach and when something happens to them it hurts us. If there is one thing I have learned out here is how evil drugs are. No matter what the drug is and no matter how harmless it seems. I leave this as a warning to all those who read this. Stay as far away as you can from that life. I have witnessed for myself what comes from drugs. They can destroy your life, I have seen it for myself in more lives than I can count. So please stay away from drug abuse.

On a lighter note, Easter was great! We had 3 investigators at church and one (who's name is D.) came for his first time and he loved it! He says he already knows it is true, and he is going to come every Sunday! It was incredible to see because we didn't to squat! The Holy Ghost will do what seems impossible, all we need is faith!

We had ham for Easter dinner and it was really nice! We ate at a members house and it has like the best view ever! We had a really good time, we ended our day with pie! Yay!

I'm sad to hear that Sister Johnston passed away. :( I'm going to miss her too. she was one of the nicest ladies I have ever met! Anyway, Love ya! Have a great week!

Why Do We Serve?

Hello Family and Friends!

This week is transfer week and Elder Loertscher and I are staying together here in San B! This should be a great transfer! It's getting really warm here! It was in the 90's all last week, and on the hottest day we fasted for an investigator. That was hard!

Me and Elder Loertscher
It makes me sad to hear that Sister Johnston isn't doing very well, and that the other woman in our ward passed away. :( We had someone pass away in this ward just this week as well. So I guess I can understand what the ward is going through.

Other than that, this week has been soooo awesome! We taught a total of 22 lessons this week, something that has never really happened in this ward before. Elder Loertscher and I are kicking butt! :) We've been meeting some very interesting people!

We were stopped the other night by this one guy who said he used to be LDS. He had to be drunk, but we were able to give him a Book of Mormon! He just kept on asking us the same question. Why were we out there walking around San Bernardino? Just for God? We bore him our testimonies and tried to explain to him but he just kept on asking.

It made me wonder to myself. We truly are a light to the world! People see us and wonder, why do they do that? Why are they out there? People seem to be able to recognize us as servants of Jesus Christ where ever they go though. We have even heard people say, "Don't mess with them, they are God's people." haha I thought that was funny. :)

Anyway we picked up some new investigators this week. things are going well with them. We haven't been able to meet with J. all week so I don't know if he still will be baptized on the 19th, he got a new job so that is great for him! And C. still has some things to work out before his baptism so we are not sure if his will be on that day either, but we are still trying hard to work with them. That's about it for this week. Here's some pictures that I promised ya! :)

P-day studies?
Service! And a little fun... :)

I love you and miss you all! I hope you have a great week!

Courage, We Could All Use A Little More.

This week has been good. It has been kinda slow for us but that has been okay. We are really getting out there and working hard! We walk a ton everywhere that we go and try to talk to lots of people! I'm actually getting really good at it! I love it! haha We get rejected a lot and that isn't fun but hey at least we are opening our mouths!

I'm still seeing tons and tons of miracles everywhere! It is super cool! One of those miracles was conference! It was sooooooooo awesome! I loved Elder Holland's talk (of course!!) it was so powerful! And I loved Elder Andersen's and Elder Scott's talks. There seemed to me to be a common theme to try and develop Christ-like attributes such as charity, patience, and determination! I have felt the desire to serve even more after listening to conference. Oh,  I also loved the Priesthood session a ton as well! President Uchtdorf's talk was awesome, especially the part about Air Force One, and I loved President Monson's talk about courage. We could all use a little more of that can't we?!?

Junior is doing good, we pushed back his baptism a bit, he doesn't feel like he's quite ready yet. We are still working with him.

I saw the coolest thing at this grocery store, it was a Superman Easter basket! I didn't buy it, but it doesn't mean I wasn't tempted to! :D

Well this week was good! I'm super glad that Alyssa loved my Beanie! haha

Anyway, I love you all!  Have a good week!
