Transfers!

Ah...It is so weird to think of all the things that have changed since I've been gone! I guess that happens when you leave for a year. It is so cool to see the pictures of Abby, Kyle, Corbyn, Ryan, and Trenton! Ryan will be such a great missionary!

Ryan's farewell luncheon

Mckenna will do fine in High School! If she is anything like me, she will get the school figured out pretty quick! Question...what classes is she taking? And she will need to say "Hi" to Coach Moore for me! :)

So I bet you are dying to know what happened with transfers! You will never guess what changes were made! Ahem....soooooooooo I was transferred out to Fontana! My new companion is Elder Allen, he is a great guy and we get along well. He is from Texas and he came out at the same time as me, and no I did not know him in the MTC. But that isn't even the craziest thing! The ward I am serving in is the Palmetto ward and it is a Tongan ward, it is really interesting!!

I'm now back in a humongous area and it is very different. I am in a car again which is nice and I left my bike in the mission shed this time. :) Every morning we do language study in Tongan! It is pretty awesome, I never thought I would be learning a different language on my mission! But it is super cool! I'm also stuffed to overflowing; the Tongan people LOVE to eat and they LOVE to feed us! I might come home a few sizes bigger!

So the work is a lot different and I'm still trying to get used to it but it is coming along. The members are super awesome too!

Well I love you all VERY MUCH!!!!!! I hope that you have a good week! Take Care!

The Work Is Hard But Good

Although it is super awesome that you were in the same city as me last week, thank you for not visiting me. It probably would have been hard for me, though I LOVE my MOMMA!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D I think that the Lord kept us from seeing each other so I could keep singleness of mind!! We pass by that McDonald's regularly (it is in my area and happens to be just down the street from Cesars house!) It is so exciting that you were able to see the Redlands Temple! It is a pretty one isn't it?! Hehe I hope you enjoyed your little jaunt around my area. :P.

This week was a good one, it was hard but it was good. We spent a lot of time tracking down potential investigators in the hot sun! Contacting on the street wasn't very effective. Sometimes we have days where it looks like a good day with lots of appointments, then they all fall through. That happened quite a bit this week.

We did pick up a new investigator named Robert! He has soooo much faith it is crazy! He just accepts everything that we say just right off the bat, and he is so willing to learn. It is always so awesome to see those kinds of people. Miguel and Karina are going to be married in November when their son turns 8 so they can all be baptized as a family! They are super awesome!

We have no word on transfers which is this week, so I might need to tell you next week what happens.I also realized that we are supposed to get iPads soon and they are supposed to be a pretty hefty price, so don't worry about the scriptures. I'll be putting them on the iPad! Haha

Well anyway, I love you all! I hope you have a good week. I hope you enjoyed your stay in California!

Spiritual Lessons.Mom in Redlands. The Most Awesome Son in The World Day.

(I must preface this post with a note that I visited the Long Beach/LA/SanB/Redlands area this past week and Elder Barker still has no clue that I was there...I was a good missionary mom and I did not try to contact him at all. :) I did tell him that I have a surprise for him in next week's email where I'll then tell him, so you could say he's a little curious.. :D Momma Barker)

Momma at the Redlands Temple
So first off I bought a new back light for my bike because my other one is beyond hope, and plus this new one is rechargeable! So that is cool, and if you were wondering on what to get me for my birthday or Christmas or "The most awesome son in the world day" which is everyday by the way ;P Something like a 2013 edition of the standard works would be nice, :) or something like that. The scriptures I have now are getting really marked up and stuff.

Anyway, this week was really good. I would say that the most exciting thing that happened was that we had a lesson with Miguel and Karina! It was so great because they agreed to be married so they could be baptized! Taking them to the temple worked! (duh :P) It was one of the most spiritual lessons that I've had on my mission, it was awesome!

We then were able to finally meet with our investigator Isaac! He has been reading the Book of Mormon during the month that we haven't met with him! So awesome! He was telling us that he would get a really good feeling when ever he would read the Book of Mormon and that has made him want to learn more!

The rest of this week has been filled with mostly member missionary efforts as we are trying to find through the members more. It is slow so far, but we feel it will pick up like crazy!

I can't wait to hear the rest of your stories!!!! TEEELLLL MMEEEEE! I have no patience! haha

Love you lots!

#TheWorkGoesOn #MoreChocolatePlease:)

I haven't heard of the situation with the Ebola virus in Africa, we don't hear much of what is in the news. That is just so nuts! Do you know what mission Braxton is going to be sent too? Something that I have noticed since I've been out is that I really didn't know a lot about less active members and things like that in our ward back home. I guess I was too wrapped up in other stuff at the time and it didn't click with me that there were people who just never came. But now as a missionary we visit these people all of the time and I'm very aware about that stuff now.

The work has been going good lately, although it's been kinda slow this week. The sister missionaries in our ward had a baptism so that was super awesome! Miguel and Karina are doing well, but we haven't been able to meet with them much this week. We also had Aldo, Anna, and Mario drop us this week and that was super depressing. But still the work goes on and one day we hope we will be able to teach them again!

A lot of this week has been spent trying to work with the members on doing  member missionary work. We really are trying to help them over come the fears they have, and help them see that they can share the gospel with ANYONE very very naturally. It has been going well so far so we hope to be getting some new investigators soon from the members.

It finally rained this week! It felt really good to be out in the rain instead of the hot dry sun for once! And it was a warm rain too so that was even better!!

Well, I hope that you all have a great week!!! LOVE YOU!!

P.S. Please send more chocolate!!! You have a poor, chocolate craving young adult here!!!! ;D hehehe
