Changes

A sword that some members got from Spain
Elder Duffin - Cinco de Mayo

The mission office called me and I told them that I had already talked with you about my release date and that I will come home September 1st. It will be weird to come home to have sacrament meeting first! Well maybe not as much, since I will be used to it from out here! These last few weeks have been difficult for me, but I'm feeling the changes in myself so that has been good to see.

So this week we met with Francisco a lot. He is going to be moving back in with his parents this week. They live in the Bay area so he will be leaving us. It is really cool to see the changes that he has made in his life too. He knows the church is true and is going to continue meeting with missionaries over there. He also wants to try and bring his parents along and hopefully use the church to bring them back together.

We also have been meeting with Jacklyn this week. She is excited because she hopes that the youth of the church will come in and friendship her sons and bring them out of their shells a little. Good things are happening over here so I'm happy about that. I'm not sure what the next week will bring, but I hope it is going to be awesome!

I hope you have a great week! I did get my package, thank you! I miss you all!

Heavenly Father Loves Us

I've had a great week! And it isn't exactly what you would expect because it's also been a difficult week.  You know how I have had a choice to make as far as whether to come home a transfer early to start school fall semester or not?  To be perfectly honest, I've made my decision and I've decided that I need to stay. Really Heavenly Father has given me that answer and I can't deny it. So, I'm really looking forward to continuing to serve Him over the next few months.

I know for myself that Heavenly Father knows each of our situations. I don't think I can ever begin to understand just how much He loves us and will help us in our lives. As I've continued to try and do my best as a missionary, Heavenly Father continues to bless us. We found 2 new investigators this week and we've talked with so many potentials! Billy hasn't been home yet but hopefully we will meet with him this week.

Our new investigators are Jacklyn and Karoline. Jacklyn is the lady we helped move in a few weeks ago.  And Karoline called us. She has nieces and nephews that are members of the church. So she is really thinking about being baptized. And the potentials we still have to set up appointments with them, but people just come out and talk with us, it is great.

We are getting iPads soon and with that is coming training on how to use these tools safely. These safe guards will help every missionary be able to stay safe even when they are home. It will be awesome!

I love you Momma. Thank you for teaching me what is right and being the best mom in the world! I hope you all have a great week. I'm excited for that package!

God's Work

It was super awesome to Skype with you all yesterday! I loved it! I hope you had a Happy Mother's Day. The Flores family cooked us Chicken Cordon Bleu. They are from Peru so there was a few Peruvian spices added to it, it was super good!!

Sooooo about the pictures... I do have them, but for some reason my cord is not working today so I'm not able to upload them to the computer. :/ I tried it on several computers, so I think I need a new cord.

Like I told you a little bit already, we have new investigator this week. She is friends with Paula, from the family we were with yesterday. Paula took her friend to a stake activity that night. Her friend goes to one of the Pentecostal churches in the area, but she was telling us about how there are a few things that she doesn't agree with that they believe. As we were meeting with Brother Flores (he is our ward mission leader) Paula's friend asked us, "So what do you believe in your church?" We were like, "Well let us tell you." :) So we taught her the Restoration and she loved it! So now we are teaching her. It is funny how God continues to do his own work!

Another interesting experience we had was on exchanges, we were serving at a soup kitchen and a homeless lady came in and told us all about how Mormons are going to hell and all that. Then this random guy was like "How are you supposed to tell them what they believe? That sounds like you are judging them. Doesn't the Bible say not to judge people?" That made my day when that happened.

Well, there's not much else that is new. I love you all and hope you have a great week!

#Mother's Day #Supporting A Missionary

I'm excited to Skype with you on Mother's Day! I'm looking forward to it! I can't wait to talk with you and Dad about some possibilities that I need to consider. I have been praying for the answers and I will talk more with President Van Cott as well.

You have to speak in church on Mother's Day? :)  What does it mean to me to have a supportive mother? Well, it is really awesome and helps me so much having a supportive mother! The packages and emails and letters of support and love mean the most to me as a missionary. There is no better feeling than coming to the computer on Monday and seeing an email from you or opening the mailbox to find a package that you've sent. Sometimes missionary work can be hard when you are rejected over and over and over again. Having a loving mother supporting me gives me the sense of home that I need, and reminders of why I am here and that helps me to push through the hard times.

As far as transfers, I'm staying with Elder Duffin in Bermuda Dunes so that is good. And we just got a car so that will save us since it is getting super hot! Also we did get your package and we are having some fun with the hats and stuff! :D I'll get you your pictures next week.

This week was good. We had Billy come to church for the first time. We taught him about the gospel of Jesus Christ and he is going to pray about May 16th as his date to be baptized! He says that he wants to do it, so that is super exciting! Things with Francisco are going slowly but surely. He knows that the church is true but he just lets memories of his old life keep him from getting the blessings from the gospel. We had a good lesson with him about the importance of the Book of Mormon, It went pretty well. We will see if he is reading and things like that as we work with him some more.

Anyway that is the scoop of what is going on here in this neck of the woods! I love you all and can't wait for Sunday! It will be exciting! Have a great week!
